Mediation

me*di*a*tion - intervention between conflicting parties to promote a reconciliation, settlement or compromise.

What is involved in a typical mediation?

  • Presentation of the file to CMA
  • Private and confidential caucuses
  • Periodic joint discussions
  • Final sessions toward settlement
  • The primary function of the mediator is to guide the parties involved towards a realistic and cost effective settlement of you file. The mediator is not there to make decisions for you, but rather to help expedite the process through his or her experience. As a neutral third part, the mediator can help you through the various proposals and settlement offers that arise. The mediator can also communicate you intentions through the private caucusing process with the opposing parties.
